| Keeping user data backed up
is a never-ending problem for IT staffs everywhere.
As the capacity of local hard drives increases
exponentially and the amount of business data
that resides on those drives proliferates,
establishing policies for regularly backing
up that data is more important than ever.
Too often, small companies choose not to spend
money on the hardware, software, and manpower
that they need to keep business data backed
up.
The backup sets are configured to run daily,
weekly and monthly. The backups are taken
on an offsite centralized backup server
with RAID implementation.
Daily backups are incremental i.e. only
the changed files are backed up. Whereas
the weekly and monthly backups are full
i.e. regardless of the changes, all the
files in the source are backed up to the
destination. After a file is backed up for
the first time, only changes to the file
are backed up thereafter. We estimate that
roughly only 1 percent of the backed-up
data will need to be touched, meaning that
when you back up 10GB of files, you'll actually
transfer only 100MB of data each day for
the backup. The service level agreement
(SLA) that's provided with the Remote Backup
service guarantees a daily backup.
We are pleased to announce the immediate
availability of Offiste Backup, a low-cost,
remote backup service for servers on any
network that has a reliable Internet connection. After
a file is backed up for the first time,
only changes to the file are backed up thereafter.
